A late-night flight with Ryanair from Rome to Dublin on a very clear night in mid-summer.
This is probably the latest Ryanair flight at night time that I have ever been on. The scheduled departure time for this flight was 22:30 and scheduled arrival was 00:50. As you can imagine, after two weeks holidays in the sunshine of Italy, it wasn't the best time of the day to be flying home. However, with the clear skies and wonderful night time views we had along the way back to Dublin, it made it quite an enjoyable flight overall.
It wasn't exactly a flight that was 100% perfect however. With the serious July heat of almost 30 degrees Celsius at around 11pm at night in Rome, the windows inevitably got fogged up really quickly with the high humidity present outside. As you can imagine, I wasn't necessarily too impressed to be sitting beside a window of a Boeing 737, barely able to see the wing of the airplane outside, especially at night-time - Certainly not the reason why I paid nearly €15 extra to get an engine view window seat.
Oh well, that's what happens I guess in Aviation sometimes, nothing that you can do about it :( It was quite annoying that the clips I got of Pushback, Engine Start and Taxi to the Runway @ FCO were of poor visibility due to the foggy windows but once we entered the Runway to depart, it was pretty much almost fully gone thankfully.
Anyway, back to our flight! We took off almost an hour and a half late, meaning that it was almost midnight by the time we took to the Skies. Quite late all things considered, probably too late considering how late at night it was.
We got going anyway eventually and took off out over the Tyrrhenian Sea, turning up north bound for Ireland. Thankfully, it was a lovely, clear night and we were able to get lovely views of many places along our route, including Civitavecchia, Elba, Geneva and London, to name a few.
The flight went pretty smooth for the most part, no major turbulence or route diversions were needed due to bad weather or busy airspace - clear skies, good weather all the way.
Finally, we approached Dublin from the Irish Sea and after a flight time of 2 hours and 40 mins, we landed on Runway 28L in Dublin just 40 mins behind schedule, not bad considering we took off almost an hour and a half late!!
Anyway, over to you now :)
Ever flown with Ryanair before? Ever flown before from Rome or Dublin? Maybe even on a late night flight with a lowcost airline in Europe?? Comment below and share your experiences with me :)
Enjoy!! :)
