Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah recounted how he narrowly escaped an attack at a wedding function in Jammu. The 88-year-old National Conference president said he initially mistook the gunshot fired near him for a firecracker, adding that he survived by divine grace, saying, “God saved me.” Abdullah explained that the incident occurred as he was leaving the wedding pavilion, when he heard a loud bang and felt something hot nearby. Security personnel immediately overpowered the alleged gunman. He said he does not know the attacker and is unaware of the motive behind the attempt. Abdullah described the terrifying moment calmly, highlighting that the quick action of his security team prevented any harm.
