Remember when the time passed idly
and life was just a game
wandering the daydream
in the land of the blindly chasing after pipe dreams

But I was just a youth following the clues
nothing to lose and nothing or miss
but youth is wasted on the young
like money on rich

Now the river’s moving quicker and the bills are adding up
Pressure slowly building so we’ve got to make a buck
Salary reality, finally living mindlessly
not really alive but society’s high-fiving me

And so the shadow of humanity
gets writ large in our economy
and we are held in its revelry,
for the road to hell is really quite heavenly

Whole world trying to get rich,
cannibals surprised when they finally get bit

And so we’re joining the cloud, outbound, it’s reality now

And some of us living solely for our pleasures,
and some of us are living hungry for the answers,
and there are people who obsess over their net worth
and never really liked themselves but want to live forever

The tears of a billionaire,
the unsung prayers that we cannot bear
and so we’ve managed our fears,
Jesus Christ two days of the year

The dream is getting bigger and the blare is getting louder,
searching in a screen as we fumble for the words,
it’s pretty in the picture, probably a filter,
resolution sharpens till everything is blurred

There’s people getting richer and people on the curb,
the coverage improves, but the news is getting worse,
and so we’re drowning it out, bow down, it’s reality now

society the myth, reality the trip and happiness the brand

And we go round and round with the same old mind,
and we’ve been searching in the places where we shine the light,
but there is something calling from our past,
there is something calling from the sprawling dark

'Reality, Now' is a real and raw exploration of humanity's endless pursuit of pleasure – no matter the cost. It's a smooth, psych-rock and jazz-infused three minutes, which gradually, steadily builds with live instrumentation and a cutting rap that melts over the top.

Intellect meets emotion as Nico breaks down the inhumanity of our obsession with money, and the concept of losing who we are in order to experience the fantasy of living forever. How much of our reality is, in fact, real, and how much is just a filter?

“The story of humanity is a story of lost innocence. From the garden of Eden to agriculture to the dawn of AI, we have been biting the apple and slowly separating ourselves from nature,” Nico says.

“'Reality, Now' offers a picture of the inverted world we now inhabit where money has humiliated everything and we are on the brink of a transformation that will see us become Gods or destroy ourselves, or both.”
