This episode marks the beginning of a new series I’m calling Unsolicited Offerings — a space where I share reflections on public conversations shaping our communities, our relationships, and the ways we heal and rebuild together.
Today, I’m responding to a powerful roundtable discussion centered on Black men exploring the topic of trusting Black women. The conversation was curated by SisterSong Women of Color and featured voices in dialogue about accountability, vulnerability, history, and repair.
I want to begin by expressing genuine appreciation for the intention behind that table. These are not small conversations. They require courage, honesty, and a willingness to sit in discomfort. I also offer my own reflections — where I agree, where I see room for expansion, and which additional Black male voices I would have valued hearing in that space.
If you haven’t watched the full discussion yet, I strongly encourage you to do so directly on the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective YouTube channel or via The Conscious Lee. Context matters. Nuance matters. And these conversations deserve to be heard in full.
As for us — this is not about dragging or debating. This is about continuing the dialogue with care.
Share your thoughts in the comments:
• What did you take from the roundtable?
• Where did you feel seen?
• Where do you believe we still need deeper repair?
• What does trust look like to you in practice — not just in theory?
Let’s keep this thoughtful. Let’s keep this accountable. Let’s keep this rooted in a desire for wholeness.
These are my unsolicited offerings — and I’m opening the floor for yours.
