A slow blank start before the titles appear. A different introduction with Doug on location face-to-camera with microphone in hand. Then cuts to a whiteboard where Doug explains the route to be taken. Nice to see Doug! The remainder is the customary following of the journey.
First the mgr empties climb from Thrybergh Jct up to Silverwood Jct where the loco runs around. Then into the colliery and under the bunker to reverse out progressively loaded. Retrace down to Thrybergh Jct the film then follows the journey along the GC beside the canal through Kilnhurst to Mexborough. See the quarries beyond Conisbrough, the Doncaster avoiding line exits left at Hexthorpe Jct, then take west-to-south curve at Bridge Jct Doncaster to run alongside ECML. Pass the Royal Mail Rail Terminal depot which was then under construction by Decoy South Jct.. and so join the South Yorkshire Joint Line.
Follow the SY Joint line to its southern end at Brancliffe East Junction, then head east through Worksop (pit stop!) the Retford diveunder (of the ECML), Clarborough Tunnel, then Clarborough Jct for the short distances to the River Trent by veering left for West Burton Power Station, or veering right for Cottam Power Station (Doug covers both destinations).

Doug Copley's Lineside Images
'Doug Copley's Lineside Images' are 68 titles filmed 1980's, 1990's & 2000's variously 12-90 minutes long. They come with Doug's own commentary and tend to follow lines of route, or particular workings, filmed over multiple return visits.
Doug's videos often include interludes of impressively vocal bird song!
In Alfred Hitchcock (filmmaker) style, Doug occasionally makes brief cameo appearances in his own films.
Doug Copley
Doug gave annual shows to Peak Rail Sheffield Branch. When he died in 2008 his films were kindly made available to the Peak Railway Association by his family so that appreciative enthusiasts can continue to enjoy his work in his memory.
During his working life as a steelworks commissioning engineer he travelled extensively and the collection includes South America, South Africa, India, Turkey (steam), and Australia. The UK collection includes many secondary lines, and also industrial railways. A treasure trove.
