On a recent visit to Windmill Island Gardens, we had the pleasure of meeting and being educated by Del Schrotenboer, the contractor responsible for building the base of the windmill - "De Zwaan". Windmill Island Gardens is located in Holland, Michigan not far from Lake Michigan. It's focus is on tulips, educating the public about windmill operation, as well as a taste of Dutch culture.
We got to tour the grounds and saw the last of the blooming plants. Maybe someday we'll visit when the tulips are in full bloom!
