Malibu Creek State Park CA: Filming Locations! M*A*S*H & Planet of the Apes Santa Monica Mountains

Описание: Join us at Malibu Creek State Park in Southern California. This state park in sunny CA is a beautiful park preserving the Malibu Creek canyon in the Santa Monica Mountain range.

In this video, we hike to several locations including filming locations for the TV show MASH, as well as the location from Planet of the Apes that was the home of the "Ape City".

We also visit the "Rock Pool" - an impressive rock pool nestled between volcanic rock that is a popular fishing & swimming hole. Nestled at the base of the Century Lake dam, it has been used in several films, including: a scene in George Roy Hill’s 1969 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in 1969,
The Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan series, filmed in the 30's & 40's; The filming location for Charleton Heston the 1968 Planet of the Apes for the skinny dipping scene. There was also an elephant and alligator imported to the pool in 1967 for a Dr Doolittle scene. This area currently serves as a popular fishing & swimming hole.

We also visit Century Lake & Dam. Century Lake was formed in early 1900's by building a 50ft dam on Malibu Creek, and used as a fishing hole for the Crag Country Club in the early 1900's. The lake acquired its name when it was later purchased by 20th Century Fox and named Century Lake.
