This comes at a time when the Supreme Court of India is now hearing multiple cases about the hijab, and incidents of Indian students leaving exam rooms because their hijab was not allowed are frequently recorded. The Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) stated that female students would no longer be permitted to wear the abaya in exam rooms. It is interesting to note that the word "abaya" is Arabic meaning a long, loose outer garment. According to BC Nagesh, the education minister for Karnataka, students wearing a hijab would not be permitted to take the second pre-university (PU) exam.
