For years, one of the places we have been asked to present Impact Therapy the most is in school systems, primarily with school counselors. Especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, youth mental health has become a major area of focus for the public and for school systems over recent years. At the same time, school counselors often have to contend with competing interests, struggling to juggle their role as mental health experts in schools while also often being tasked with clerical functions or duties. The big question remains - how can we best address the mental health needs of our students?
In this video, watch Dr. Jacobs interview Wilson Harvey, a trained Impact Therapist and a social/emotional learning specialist and school counselor at Buckhannon-Upshur High School in Buckhannon, WV, Together, they discuss the ways that the multi-sensory and often brief nature of Impact Therapy techniques can lead to the kind of quick-but-lasting change that we all want to see for our students.
