#8535 Moon Scape Using Up Prizm Pour Leftovers Contemporary Art Fluid Acrylics1.27.2022intuitive art
I am using a 10" x 20 " stretched canvas.I am using dominantly Prism pour colors. These acrylic paints are mixed with Vivid Poly Pour available from Colour Arte, both extend and help them flow more easily. My Prism Pour recipe begins with GAC 800 (25% of your mixing container) to that add slightly less than the same amount of Floetrol. Add Vivid Poly Pour to the mixing container until it is slightly more than half full, mix well. Add color leaving just enough room to mix thoroughly. If thinning is required distilled add a small amount of water until the paint reaches a consistency you appreciate using. I have been mixing in 4-ounce size containers and then adding that mixture to a 5 oz. squeeze bottle. I always add a small glass marble to aid the mixing process. Always shake mixtures in bottles before use. When quantities become low add more new paint mixture before running out if possible.
The background layer is in this case is Anita's Navy Blue. But more often than not it is Meeden black acrylic (and or white) paint (with an added 1-2% distilled water, offers an excellent cell-making opportunity) background paints are mixed with my usual "pouring" mixture recipe consisting of 3/4 Floetrol with 1/4 (estimated) GAC800 from "Golden" (prevents cracking and adds shine to dry artwork) mix into it thoroughly. I strongly recommend adding GAC 800 by Golden as an addition to all colors (25%) to avoid crazing.
Using a cell activator will accentuate the ability to cause a cell making/ blooming effect, the Cell activator recipe is 3/4 Aussie Floetrol ( recommended but pricey) or the same amount of an alternative -American Floetrol with added 10 drops of Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner added for every 2 ounces of mixed paint. The recipe is generally -3/4 Floetrol 1/4 paint. Basic choices usually begin with black and or white, the Amsterdam brand is recommended. Also Dioxazine Purple from Masters touch works well.I have experimented successfully by adding drops of orange Unicorn Spit gel stain to Aussie Floetrol. Other colors can be used * Not all colors work.
A propane torch is cautiously passed over the surface of the canvas to release any air in the paint that might result in bubbles forming while the artwork dries or leaving pockmarks if left to pop on their own. Every day I learn new things. I will never stop experimenting, and I am happy to share what I discover with you.
