Sacramento group hopes to restore Latino history, culture to Cesar Chavez Plaza

Despite carrying the name of a civil rights leader in the Latino community, events at the Cesar Chavez Plaza in the heart of downtown Sacramento are seldom aimed at celebrating culture and Latino history. The plaza occupies an entire block between I and J streets and 9th and 10th streets. In an attempt to change the norm and create cultural awareness, a few city leaders and organizations created the Cesar Chavez Plaza Revitalization Stakeholder Group, which aims to revitalize civic spaces that highlight Mexican culture.
