No one talks about this, but did you know your gut meds could make you itch down there?
If you have Crohn’s, colitis, or are on antibiotics, you might be more prone to thrush—a common yeast infection caused by the fungus candida.
Thrush isn’t an STI; it thrives in warm, damp places and can cause intense itching, soreness, and sometimes a thick white discharge. The good news?
It’s usually easy to treat with antifungal meds from the pharmacy and clears up in a week or two. To help prevent it, avoid perfumed soaps, wear breathable cotton underwear, and dry thoroughly after washing.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever had thrush while managing IBD or after antibiotics—let’s break the stigma!
If you keep getting thrush, talk to your doctor—it could be your body’s way of asking for a little extra care.
