Our Off grid homestead is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of "normal" life. As a husband and Wife, with grown children living in other states, living in rural Northern Arizona means that we must be mostly self reliant. We are striving for self sufficiency for our vegetable food.

Renewable energy sources from solar panels and wood heat provide affordable alternatives to city provided services. Good thing too - the closest "city" connection for anything is 6.2 miles as the crow flies!

Off grid homestead living sounds romantic, but it is a lot of work.

We are working towards an organic self sufficient way of off grid living. Our objective is to grow more of our own organic food for dietary reasons, and the security of knowing how our food has been raised. We are sustainable with a limited number of plants, and are working towards greater self sufficiency. We have gardened direct into our native soil, used raised beds with new top soil, and employed greenhouse gardening techniques like benches, dutch bucket hydroponics, wicking beds, and eat mat bottom warming. Each has its own unique qualities that we use to grow our food.
