In Advanced Excel, the What-If Analysis feature is a powerful tool to analyze different possibilities and outcomes without changing the actual data. It mainly includes three key options:
Goal Seek – Helps you find the required input value to achieve a specific result. For example, if you know the final sales target and want to calculate the necessary growth percentage, Goal Seek will solve it automatically.
Scenario Manager – Allows you to create and compare multiple scenarios of data. For instance, you can prepare Best Case, Worst Case, and Expected Case scenarios for sales or budget forecasting and switch between them easily.
Data Table – Used to evaluate multiple results at once by changing one or two input variables. For example, you can create a data table to see how changes in interest rate and loan tenure will affect monthly EMI.
Along with What-If Analysis, Excel also supports Import & Export of data from various data sources like Access, SQL Server, Text/CSV, XML, JSON, and more. You can also import live data from the web such as stock prices, weather, or currency exchange rates, keeping your reports and dashboards updated automatically.
This makes Excel not just a spreadsheet tool but a powerful platform for data analysis, forecasting, reporting, and decision-making.
