If you don't want to listen to my voice for twenty minutes (understandable!), here are the steps:
IF NEEDED -
IN UTAU
Fix all Red Exclamation Points in UST
Find tempo in UST
IN REAPER
Fix peaks using envelopes or "s" to split the audio track (so you can up and down the volume by clicking and dragging the top)
Align the off vocal with the measure lines
Align rendered vocals with off vocal
-- Having the original song to line up the vocals with REALLY HELPS!!
The actual mixing:
*Lower volume of every track by about 5
*Add ReaComp to vocal tracks with any preset that has "Vocal" in it, then play with the threshold.
Add ReaEq to vocal tracks with any preset that has "Vocal" in it.
Play with volume settings
Add Master Limiter to Master Track
Fiddle around until you like it.
