Floating Drift is a piece of Minimal Piano Music built around a simple A-B structure in G minor. The composition is stripped down to its essence: four repeating chords, subtle variations, and a deep atmosphere.
The A-sections are played only on the piano, reduced to the harmonic foundation. In the B-sections, the bass pedal triggers a warm synth tone, expanding the sound like a refrain and giving the piece a meditative and hypnotic quality.
