This video introduces the OECD’s Business Integrity guidance and the key messages it emphasises for strengthening integrity in organisations.
The OECD highlights that integrity is not “a compliance department issue” — it is a leadership responsibility, supported by practical controls, reporting avenues, and consistent follow-through. The OECD also stresses the role of governments in incentivising integrity and enforcing rules, and the importance of international co-operation and collective action between business, government, and civil society.
In this lesson, I outline the OECD’s core messages:
Businesses must lead in promoting a culture of integrity (tone from the top + practical compliance measures regardless of business size)
Governments’ role in incentives and enforcement (frameworks that deter, detect, and sanction corrupt practices)
International co-operation and collective action to raise standards and strengthen fair competition
Galvanising the private sector as partners in combatting corruption through collaboration and shared solutions
