Fabric: two pieces of matching wool yardage from a thrift store, roughly totaling 158cm by 78cm
Bias tape: unknown brand from my stash (1⁄4 inch)
- Snaps: UniqueSewing sew-on snap fasteners (11mm, or 7⁄16” – SKU3035020)
Basting thread: cone of unknown brand and fibre content (rescued from a thrift store)
- Hand-sewing thread: Gütermann 100% Silk (Col. 339)
- Sewing machine thread: unknown brand that has been in my stash for a while
- Overlock machine thread: American & Efird 524 Maxi-Lock All Purpose (Light Grey)
Small scissors: Walfront Antique-Style Multipurpose Scissors (silver/gold – ASIN BO792ZTSR22)
- Fabric shears: vintage Ginghers (inherited from my husband’s grandmother)
Needles: the brand is long-forgotten but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are Singer needles

Tailor’s ham: homemade by yours truly out of bits from my cabbage patch (in other words, scrap fabric) and filled with buckwheat shells -- so it doubles as a heat pad
McGyver-style sewing anchor: vintage marble pen holder made to look like an owl, with a cut wine cork shoved into one of the pen slots and a corsage pin from my wedding bouquet to hold the fabric

Linguistic Minutiae:
- “Bonjour/Hi” is a common greeting used mainly by retail and service industry workers here in Montreal
“Atelier” is French for “studio” or “workshop”
- “À la prochaine” simply means “until next time” or “see you later”
