Not far from the Czech border and 40 km from Dresden, Germany, lies the oldest resort in the Saxon Switzerland National Park – the German town of Bad Schandau. It is located in an incredibly picturesque area, on both banks of the Elbe, surrounded by cliffs and forests. The town is connected by two bridges across the river.

Bad Schandau is one of the oldest spa resorts in Saxony. Healing springs were discovered in the town as early as the 18th century.

Bad Schandau is a "picture-perfect town": built in a medieval style, it features many charming houses with tiled roofs and cobblestone streets. All this is surrounded by high mountains and the river.

Marktplatz is the town's main square. It is home to the ancient Sendig Fountain (Sendig Brunnen).

The town's main cathedral, St. John's Church (St. Johanniskriche), is also located on the square. It was built in 1679.

A short walk beyond St. John's Church leads to the town's main attraction: the Toscana Therme thermal baths. After exiting the Toscana Therme and passing through a parking lot and park, you'll reach the next attraction: an electric elevator. This historic elevator is a 50-meter metal structure. It was built by Rudolf Sendig in 1904. The elevator connects the town center and the Ostrau district. This elevator takes you to a viewing platform offering stunning views of Bad Schandau and the surrounding area.

There's another landmark near the town of Bad Schandau that deserves special attention: the Bastei Bridge. The Bastei Bridge is located 11 km from the town.

Unweit der tschechischen Grenze und 40 km von Dresden entfernt liegt der älteste Kurort im Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz – das deutsche Städtchen Bad Schandau. Es befindet sich in einer malerischen Gegend an beiden Elbufern, umgeben von Felsen und Wäldern. Zwei Brücken verbinden den Ort mit Dresden.

Bad Schandau zählt zu den ältesten Kurorten Sachsens. Heilquellen wurden hier bereits im 18. Jahrhundert entdeckt.

Bad Schandau ist ein „Bilderstadt“: Im mittelalterlichen Stil erbaut, ist er berühmt für seine vielen charmanten Häuser mit Ziegeldächern und Kopfsteinpflastergassen. Umgeben ist er von hohen Bergen und der Elbe.

Der Marktplatz ist der Hauptplatz des Ortes. Hier befindet sich der historische Sendigbrunnen.

Am Marktplatz steht auch die St.-Johannis-Kirche. Es wurde 1679 erbaut.

Nur wenige Schritte hinter der St.-Johannis-Kirche entfernt liegt die Hauptattraktion des Ortes: die Therme Toscana Therme. Nach dem Verlassen der Therme und einem kurzen Spaziergang durch den Parkplatz und den Park erreichen Sie die nächste Sehenswürdigkeit: den elektrischen Aufzug. Dieser historische Aufzug ist eine 50 Meter lange Metallkonstruktion, die 1904 von Rudolf Sendig erbaut wurde. Er verbindet das Stadtzentrum mit dem Stadtteil Ostrau und führt zu einer Aussichtsplattform mit atemberaubendem Blick auf Bad Schandau und die Umgebung.

Ein weiteres Wahrzeichen in der Nähe von Bad Schandau, das besondere Beachtung verdient, ist die Basteibrücke. Sie befindet sich 11 km vom Ort entfernt.
