During the Parliamentary uprising Aston was under siege by Parliamentarian troops and came under cannon fire... damage to the grand staircase is still visible today! Sir Thomas had a vile temper and was responsible for murdering his cook with a cleaver and imprisoning his daughter in a top floor room until her death, she disobeyed him by wanting to marry a man of "inferior" status...
