Pretty Paper was written by country music legend Willie Nelson in 1963. Not shortly afterward Roy Orbison recorded it and made it a hit. Willie Nelson recorded it the following year in 1964. Over the decades the song has been recorded by numerous artists. The list includes Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Carly Simon, Randy Travis, and Willie himself has recorded it many times in different keys.

While not everyone considers Pretty Paper a Christmas song, it is often played during the Holiday Season. The song has a simple strumming pattern and around 8 chords to learn.
