James likely acquired the Submariner while stationed overseas during the Vietnam War. From underwater missions to civilian dives in the Great Lakes and Florida, the watch followed him through decades of adventure—including surviving a barracuda encounter. After years tucked away in a box, worn and missing its bezel, the watch was brought to us by his son Howard. Beneath the scratches and patina lay a deeply personal history waiting to be uncovered.
