This compact 2-in-1 tool will streamline your open hole flute padding.

It tackles two common problems that occur during the padding process: bushings (or grommets) getting spread too wide, and pad cup chimneys getting crushed in. Once these parts are no longer round and true, it makes the process of shimming and padding more difficult and increasingly inconsistent (as well as frustrating)

The tapered end of the tool on the outside helps you round out and reshape the grommets - simply use like a forming mandrel.

To reshape key chimneys, remove the hidden end cap of the tool to use as a backing plate. Insert the taper through the chimney to round it out, with the pad cup back against the backing plate for support.

This tool will also let you set the height of your grommets, so that each time the bushing and pad are removed in order to shim the pad, you can reinstall the grommet at the exact same height each and every time. Simply thread the stopper in or out until the desired height is reached, and it will only allow you to press the bushing down to that height.
