ইউনেস্কো অক্টোবরের পাঁচ তারিখকে; বিশ্ব শিক্ষক দিবস বলে ঘোষণা করেছে ১৯৯৪ সালে। আমাদের দেশে প্রাক্তন রাষ্ট্রপতি; সর্বপল্লী রাধাকৃষ্ণানের জন্মদিনে; এই শিক্ষক দিবস উদযাপন করা শুরু হয়েছিল ১৯৬২ সাল থেকে। অর্থাৎ যে বছর উনি; ভারতের রাষ্ট্রপতি হলেন। এটা ছিল ওঁর ছাত্রদের পরিকল্পনা। কিন্তু নিজের এক ছাত্রেরই লেখা; চুরি করেছিলেন সর্বপল্লি রাধাকৃষ্ণণ।
