The Slater Atlas Stone Lightening Insert is made from high-density foam, designed to withstand the heat generated during concrete curing. With this insert, you can reduce the weight of your Atlas Stones by 10 to 70 lbs, depending on the insert and mold size.
For example, a 6" insert used in a 14" mold can reduce the finished stone’s weight by about 10 lbs. To prevent breakage, it’s recommended to leave at least 4" of concrete on all sides of the insert.
For best results, use concrete strengthening fibers and a high-strength mix like Quikrete 5000.
