🇮🇹 Fiat 131, But Make It Unhinged 🇯🇵. Reimagining the Fiat 131 Abarth – Aero Bodykit, Bosozoku, Rally, Racer Setup, Restomod, Stance… It’s All Here 😅🤟🏻
This build started as a 1/18 scale Solido made Fiat 131 Abarth Stradale, sent to Caner by a client with a few loose ideas — “bodykit, turbo, you know… vibes”. No strict boundaries, no final vision. Just trust.
And honestly? That’s where things get dangerous… in the best way.
The stock Abarth bodykit is cool, but let’s be real — it’s functional, not exactly a looker, not aesthetic. So we went all in on a full aero-inspired restomod approach. Think aggressive air intakes, bold volumes, and modern curves forced onto a boxy 70s rally icon.
Inspired by designers and builders like KYZA, Hugo Silva, and BradBuilds, Caner reshaped the Fiat 131 into something that really shouldn’t work… but absolutely does.😅
Despite the 131’s sharp, squared-off proportions, the new bodykit somehow blends in perfectly.
Rear diffuser added.
Front splitter extended.
Trunk spoiler stretched.
And then — the madness: a hood cut for a semi-recessed turbo setup, proudly exposed like it’s +OEM accessorie... 😅🤓
The front grille lines were painted chrome, two of the four headlights got yellow film, and the same yellow tint was added as a windshield sun strip for that proper vintage race vibe.
An oil cooler was fabricated with proper hose routing — the original plan was to run the hoses through a sacrificed headlight (proper race car move), but cooler heads prevailed… eventually 😅
A oldschool Datsun/Nissan-style single fender mirror was mounted at the hood–fender junction, while bosozoku-inspired dual long chrome exhausts give a respectful nod to old-school Japanese mod culture.
Yes — Italian rally car.
Yes — JDM attitude.
No regrets.😎💨
Inside, the model got race seats, a roll cage, and extra detailing to match the exterior chaos.
The original Abarth wheels stayed, but were rebuilt with deep-offset chrome rings, proper tire fitment, and fully functional rolling mechanism.
And of course — the 'stance' is illegal in at least one dozens countries. As it should be. 🤦♂️😅
The color choice?
NATO Olive Green (L6H) — a shade famously associated with Porsche 911 GT3s. After paint, the model went through clear coat, polishing, and de-orange-peel treatment to get that smooth, real-car finish.
By the time it was done, Caner genuinely hesitated to send it back to the client.
Too much effort.
Too much soul.
You know that feeling… when a build leaves a lump in your throat 😅
A quick note for the curious 👀
• Fiat 131 Mirafiori was the road-going version of the car, named after Fiat’s historic factory in Turin.
• Abarth Stradale refers to the street-legal performance variant, derived from Fiat’s rally ambitions.
• The 131 also became a legend in rally and WRC history, winning championships in the late ’70s and early ’80s — making it one of Fiat’s most iconic motorsport platforms.
