Sulochana Das is the first elected Mayor of Bhubaneswar
Municipal Corporation.
Former State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, she belongs to Jajpur district.
She joined politics in 2013 after working as a television journalist for over 15 years. She has also made many documentary films on various social issues.
Along with post-graduation degrees in Economics, and Development Journalism and Electronic Communication, she has also done LLB from Utkal University.
All through her career, she strongly felt about social issues confronting the common people. As the Mayor, she is striving to make Bhubaneswar a smart and vibrant city with the active involvement of the Corporators, BMC officials and the people at large.
