unlike most people, book 2 is actually our favorite so we tried to capture more of what we expected season 2 to be, and also why we like that book the most. we wanted to represent the bond they share as well as Alina's growing hunger and curiosity for understanding the extent of her powers. i remember liking that aspect of the book: the way Alina actually had moments where she questioned herself and all that she could be, but never really entertained those thoughts. pairing that with the way The Darkling always tried to make her see exactly that, made me eager for whenever they'd meet again through their tether. unfortunately, the show is really shit and season 2 was unsalvageable. i don't really see jessie as alina anymore and little things started to piss me off more than they did in season 1, which is surprisingly a lot better than season 2, considering both are trash. i'll try to make edits of their book version if i ever decided to edit them again, but for now i'm just way too done with how much they ruined one of my favorite relationships ever.
