It became clear at the 13th Mahadhiveshan (general convention) of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha held at Khelgaon in Ranchi on April 2025 that the party aspires to expand to other states and attain the status of a national party. The JMM wanted to begin its quest to become a national party through the Bihar elections, but allegedly received a major betrayal from its ally RJD. The RJD obstructed its path to becoming a national party, and the JMM claims that the Congress was a partner in crime. However, now the hopes are pinned on Bengal and Assam. There are also plans to venture into Odisha in the future. At the general convention in April, the party had prepared an action plan to increase its activities in Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam, among other states. It is now clear that the JMM wants to field its candidates in the Bengal and Assam assembly elections, which are to be held a few months apart this year. The big question is whether the JMM, along with the TMC and other regional parties, will be in a position of begging for seats, or whether they will negotiate on equal terms, citing Hemant Soren's influence and stature.
