The Ancient Man of Mystery or Gilgamesh is reoccurring in the FF series. It is also considered as the Battle on the Big Bridge. He could be an enemy as you see here, he could be a summon, or he could be a training aid as in FF15. Always take out the dog Enkidu first in every battle to make it easier.
In this battle which is the first phase, you have two important steals. After every cut scene, you can steal an item from Gilgamesh. First, make sure you steal the Genji Shield which can be stolen at 40% of his HP. Then you have the Genji Gloves that can be stolen at 30%of his health. At that point he will put up a paling to prevent any damage to himself, but don't worry it's only temporary
