Wind tunnel testing…without the wind | Aerodynamic testing at Catesby Tunnel

Multimatic Motorsports recently became the first team to run a race car at 120mph through the tunnel and, seeing good initial results with its benchmark Mazda DPi car, booked up plenty of future tunnel time for the development of the incredible race, road and track-day cars created by Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations.

The unique arrangement at Catesby Tunnel turns aerodynamic testing on its head by running cars through a controlled environment, rather than blowing air over a stationary vehicle, the method utilised in conventional wind tunnels. Catesby Tunnel is the first facility of its kind in the UK and only the second in the world.
