Western Australia started strong with an early lead, but Vic Country fought back to take the front in the second term. WA managed to score two crucial goals just before halftime, leaving Vic Country trailing by eight points. The third quarter saw WA extend their lead with a three-goal streak, though a late goal by Wil Malady kept Vic Country within reach, 20 points behind as they headed into the final quarter.
