The second class in the Design for Manufacturing course focuses on The Manufacturing Triangle: Cost, Quality, and Schedule.

When Scott and team entered the production phase with the first Roomba, there were approximately eight to ten people on the team. Fast forward to 2004 and there were 5000 workers on the line. How do you get the knowledge from the core team’s heads to all of the workers that don’t speak English well, are so far away, and are going to turn over 20% year on year? That’s where the manufacturing triangle comes in.
