Sea Kayaking Isle of Skye's West Coast. Final Chapter
Day 5: Soay Island to Loch Coruisk. We broke camp on Soay and paddled across the North Channel to Skye, into Loch Scavaig where we set about portaging the the kayaks and equipment from sea level up and across the rugged landscape into the fresh water of Loch Coruisk. An hour and a half of hard slog carrying everything we then paddle the length (1.5miles) of the Loch to camp at the far end, deep within the heart of the Colin mountains of Skye.
A very spiritual place with 360 degrees of magnificent scenery, lots of drone footage captured and a lovely fire and welcome beverage to finish the day!
Day 6: A still peaceful morning with a thin mist above the loch, we retraced our steps (paddle strokes) back to the other end and began the portage once more.
Once on the water we paddled across the mouth of Camasunary Bay and down the peninsula to Elgol for a quick break then around the headland to commence the search for the hidden gulley to Spar Cave beneath the small hamlet of Glasnakille. We explored the beautiful flowstone formations deep within the cave.
Leaving the cave Bob opted to paddle straight around the point to return to Elgol, Will and I paddled out around the Island off the end of the point and were greeted by a pod of dolphins which we followed for a short while before turning towards Elgol where it marked the end of a fantastic six day Sea Kayaking Adventure! An amazing six days.
