Istanbul's Best Turkish Bath: Cagaloglu Hammam

I can show you the waiting room inside the most famous and historic hammam in Istanbul: Cagaloglu.

They have a full wall dedicated to the celebrities and royalty who’ve been here.
In the changing room, you’ll leave everything behind and locked up.

Art on the walls shows the process inside this 300-year-old building.

After a 15-minute sweat in a sauna-like room, each person is laid on a marble stone slab to be washed and scrubbed.
You’ll be completely covered in thick suds, massaged, and then doused with water of varying degrees of temperature.

You’ll get shampooed and maybe covered in a detoxifying clay mask.
After an hour, you’ll leave with your skin feeling literally squeaky clean.

They’ll let you relax and unwind for a few minutes, and serve tea and Turkish delights.

Something else I found interesting: they heat the sauna and water by burning olive seeds, which is a more environmentally-friendly method.

The cost will range. Cagaloglu is a higher-end hammam, so our traditional Turkish bath cost around $150 USD.
