Foinikounta and Methoni are popular with domestic Greek tourists, and in July and August is full with visitors, though throughout the year Methoni popular with both Greek and Foreign Tourists alike.

Methoni is dominated by an amazing Byzantine Castle, perched on the headland, overlooking the town which wraps around a beautiful bay and harbour. The colour of the water has to be seen to be believed, as does the castle itself!

Finikounta is a beach town with no real history, having been established by refugees from Crete in the 1850's, but has a couple of fantastic beaches and is ideal for those wishing to get away from the fast pace of the Greek Islands.

Well located for day trips to Koroni, both should be on the list of anyone travelling in and exploring the Peloponnese.

The south west Peloponnese is an opportunity to feel like you are in the Greek Islands, without having to leave the mainland.
