Painting Large Panorama in Procreate

Описание: For an architect museum, ABC Architecturencentrum, I painted this historic panorama of 10 metres in Procreate.
That is a very large canvas to paint on. In this video I show you the process and how you can paint on a larger scale.

I made the painting with my own Procreate BrushSets. They are available on Gumroad.

The assignment was to paint a historic timeline of the beach town Zandvoort in the Netherlands. The client gave me a scan of a painting that the panorama had to start with. I had to paint the rest of the canvas in the same style. This painting was made in 1610 by the Dutch painter Hendrik Cornelis Vroom. It show the earliest depiction of the fishers village Zandvoort with ships and a lighthouse. The panorama was used as a backdrop to tell the story with text and pictures.

Large Size Canvas
The printed size of the panorama is 10 metres by 1 metre. Which is 32.8 feet by 3.2 feet. Procreate has a size limit. It depends on which iPad Pro you are working on. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th Generation with 1TB Ram. In order to make this large canvas, I had to split it up in two different canvases. The first canvas had the size 3854mm width and 1000 mm height with 75 dpi. The second canvas I made at 5549mm width and 1000mm height with 75 dpi. 75dpi is a bit low for digital print. You need at least 150dpi. I decided to export the two canvases as a PNG and import them in Photoshop and stitch them together. And then scale them up to 150 dpi. That is why I picked 75 dpi for the Procreate canvas. It is better for scaling up.
