In this video, the worker is inserting the steel frame into the freshly poured concrete in the foundation pit. This is part of the construction process for single or pillar foundations for small structures. The worker pours a layer of concrete into the pit first, then presses the steel frame (with pre-attached straps) into that concrete layer. This is often done to save time or due to a lack of prior preparation for positioning the steel frame.
Although this method may seem quick and simple, it lacks sustainability. In the long run, the foundation may settle unevenly or the steel may corrode, leading to the risk of column fractures. The correct method: The foundation steel plates must be placed and the column steel frames securely positioned using a plumb line or positioning device. The steel should be raised about 3-5cm above the foundation base (as a protective layer) before pouring concrete.
