“ICE CREAM IS HEALTHIER THAN SALAD” is the kind of take you can only make if you’ve never opened a nutrition textbook (or PubMed).
Hey look I love me some ice cream, but trying to say it’s healthier than salad is wild. Especially for what this clown is claiming…
Let’s debunk the greatest hits:
“Seed oils / PUFAs cause inflammation”
Nope. In human trials, increasing linoleic acid (the main omega-6 PUFA in so-called “seed oils”) does not meaningfully raise common inflammatory markers like CRP, IL-6, TNF-α, etc. Systematic review + meta-analysis data don’t support the “omega-6 = inflammatory” influencer storyline. (PMIDs: 22889633, 28752873)
“Maltodextrin will hurt your hormones”
Based on… vibes?
Maltodextrin is just glucose polymers (carbohydrate). It gets digested to glucose. We literally have studies comparing glucose vs maltodextrin showing expected, normal endocrine responses (insulin/catecholamines during exercise), not some special “hormone damage” effect. If someone is going to claim it “hurts hormones,” the burden is on them to show human data. (PMID: 7890459)
“Cane sugar supports your thyroid”
Also not a thing.
Carbohydrate availability can influence thyroid hormone levels during dieting/very low-carb intake (ex: extreme carb restriction + hypocaloric dieting can lower T3), but that’s about carb/energy availability — not “cane sugar is thyroid medicine.” And the funniest part: sucrose (cane sugar) is 50% fructose… which these same people usually call “poison.” Maltodextrin is basically glucose. So their own logic collapses immediately. (PMIDs: 1249190, 7096916, 500814)
“Cream + egg yolks are good for your hormones”
Eating fat isn’t bad, but “ice cream boosts hormones” is made up. Ice cream is mostly added sugar + saturated fat + calories. There’s no solid human evidence that Häagen-Dazs is a hormone optimization protocol.
“Salad is unhealthy”
A plain salad with vegetables + lean protein + a reasonable amount of dressing? Great.
A “salad” that’s actually bacon, cheese, croutons, candied nuts, and 6 tablespoons of dressing? Yeah… you can absolutely make it a calorie bomb (sometimes higher calorie than ice cream). That doesn’t make ice cream “healthier.” It means calories still count, and food quality matters.
Bottom line: vegetables are nutrient- and fiber-dense. Ice cream is a dessert. Enjoy the dessert if you want it — just don’t build your health beliefs on fantasy physiology.
