Peaceful Songkran in Bangkok | Friends, Food & Local Life | It Doesn't Always Have to be Crazy Here

Описание: It's Thai New Year -- known as Songkran -- a tie when Bangkok usually turns into the biggest water fight in the world, and lots of fun! But this year, instead of getting soaked, we enjoyed a peaceful side of the city, spending quality time with friends and savoring great food.

Our Songkran week started with lunch at Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen in Emsphere, followed by a festive dinner at Tawandang German Brewery with our friend Ren and his family visiting from Peru. Along the way we got to enjoy some fun Songkran happenings in our neighborhood.

The next day we kept it local -- enjoying breakfast pancakes from our favorite local street food vendor and coffee at Cafe' Amazon on our soi. After that I joined my weekly Meetup group, and caught up for lunch with Dave, Vance and our good friend Jim, just in from the US.

That evening Tikkie and I shared a cozy dinner at one of our favorite EmQuartier restaurants where the portions are so huge we took home enough food for two more meals.

To wrap up the Songkron week, we strolled around Sukhumvit's Phrom Phong area, capturing the street scenes and showing what the city looks like during the Thai New Year without the usual splashy chaos.
