In the grand finale of our 5-part UK & Ireland Motorbike Tour series, we couldn’t resist going the whole hog — even if that meant a “slight” 150-mile detour through the edge of the Lake District and into Scotland before heading home to County Durham. Because really, how could we skip Scotland?

🚦 After leaving Wales, catching a new angle of the Menai Bridge and navigating rush-hour traffic near Liverpool and Lancaster, we made our way through Carlisle and across the border into biker heaven. The A708 has amazing views, hairpin bends and unforgettable stops like:

🟢 Grey Mare’s Tail Waterfall – The highest cascade in Southern Uplands
🟢 St Mary’s Loch – Stunning, peaceful and truly special
🟢 Loch of the Lowes – A perfect, scenic snack stop

🌧️ Yes, we got soaked (we were in Scotland, after all)
🚴‍♀️ Yes, we filtered like champs (even with panniers).
📸 And YES, the landscapes were 100% worth it.

This final leg wrapped up a truly spectacular adventure through England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland — packed with laughter, rain, winding roads, a cheeky car-and-bike cat-and-mouse game and memories to last a lifetime.
