I Almost Crashed It... AGAIN! ✈️ RC Jet Crazy 3D Maneuvers, 8S Freewing ARES!

Описание: Watch some of my first flights with the Freewing/Sebart ARES, 8S 90mm EDF rc jet, as I slowly get used to this airplane's radical flight behavior and experiment with gravity defying aerobatic maneuvers!

This time I flew with fresher packs and the jet was definitely hover capable but it'll take some time and getting used to before I dare attempt hover low over the ground. I also almost crashed again, when trying to pull out from a vertical dive too close to the ground. Thankfully, thrust vectoring played the 'savior angel' and saved the day... bless aviation design ingenuity! :D

This jet can do some really wicked stuff thanks to its lightweight, large control surfaces and thrust vectoring nozzle, but the base design and layout is still that of a pattern bird, first and foremost, so despite the added capability, this is a plane that doesn't 'so happily' perform in the post-stall regime, if you compare it to other post-stall monsters like the Su-35, the F-22 or virtually any delta or tailed delta that you may think of... the ARES ends up being quite a handful in that department. Consequently, I'll need to do a bit of mental readaptation and grow accustomed to its own peculiar set of quirks. Notice that the model wing rocks like crazy when pulling it out of its comfortable envelope. I intend to try something out on my next flight session to improve that behavior, so hopefully it gets better! One way or another, can't wait to put some hours on it and see what can really be accomplished!

For the next flights I plan to increase the gyro (Rex Assist) refresh rate from 67 to 80Hz, reduce the low pass filter from 40 to 20Hz (following a gyro setting idea from Jon from 2brosrc), disable the stabilization on ailerons and boost the roll stabilization gain for the flaps (Lior Zahavi suggested that one and seems to be the ticket to help manage the wing rocking, can't wait to test it out!), I also increased the aileron reflex-deflection for crow, and that's pretty much it for now! ;)

These were flights 5th to 9th on 'Arisa', as I decided to name my AreS... for obvious reasons, lol. ;)
