Se ubica al suroeste de Puerto Rico y limita al norte con Mayagüez y Maricao, al este con Sabana Grande, al oeste con Cabo Rojo y Hormigueros, y al sur con Lajas. San Germán está repartida en 18 barrios y San Germán Pueblo, el centro urbano y administrativo del Municipio de San Germán. Su gentilicio es sangermeño.
San Germán es el segundo poblado de más antigüedad en Puerto Rico, siendo San Juan el primero. Durante el siglo xvii, la isla estuvo dividida en dos regiones administrativas, siendo San Germán cabecera de la región occidental de la isla. De tales dos regiones se fundaron los 78 municipios que la isla contiene actualmente (2018). Si se traza una línea entre Arecibo al norte y Ponce al sur, se podrá obtener una aproximación de la antigua extensión de la región de San Germán. Hello! In this video we show you San Germán. San Germán is a municipality of the commonwealth of Puerto Rico founded at the beginning of the 16th century. It is located southwest of Puerto Rico and borders to the north with Mayagüez and Maricao, to the east with Sabana Grande, to the west with Cabo Rojo and Hormigueros, and to the south with Lajas. San Germán is divided into 18 neighborhoods and San Germán Pueblo, the urban and administrative center of the Municipality of San Germán. His name is Sangermeño.
San Germán is the second oldest town in Puerto Rico, with San Juan being the first. During the 17th century, the island was divided into two administrative regions, with San Germán being the head of the western region of the island. The 78 municipalities that the island currently contains (2018) were founded from these two regions. If a line is drawn between Arecibo to the north and Ponce to the south, an approximation of the former extent of the San Germán region can be obtained.
