Nationwide raids snare 71 people linked to mule accounts

Описание: Federal police have arrested 71 people in a nationwide crackdown on bank account mules, seizing more than RM392,000 in cash and nearly 1,000 automated teller machine (ATM) cards.

The operation, led by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) from July 29 to 31, saw 59 raids carried out across the country.

Federal CCID director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the arrests comprised 63 Malaysians and eight foreigners.

The foreigners were four Bangladeshis, one Chinese national, one Nigerian, one Myanmar national, and one Indonesian.

Rusdi warned that any activities linked to mule accounts would be dealt with sternly.

He said those caught possessing or using bank cards or accounts that did not belong to them could face action under Section 424A of the Penal Code.
