In the midst of these issues, Pakistan's defense minister is focusing on India and warning of a real risk of war with New Delhi. Arnab Goswami, the Editor in Chief, notes that given Pakistan’s economic struggles and political instability in the highly radicalized Islamic Republic, Islamabad’s main priority is securing debt relief for the troubled nation. With tough conditions from the IMF for a loan, Islamabad has reached out to Washington. They are asking the Bretton Woods institution to ease its stance as Prime Minister Sharif needs to increase electricity tariffs and impose more taxes to raise revenue.
