Divert vs Detour. What’s the difference?
Divert means to change the direction of something or someone, usually to avoid something.
"The police diverted traffic because of the accident."
A detour is a different road or path you take when the main road is blocked. It’s often longer.
"Because of construction, we had to take a detour that added 15 minutes to our trip."
So how about this?
"The road was closed, so we had to take a _____ around the city".
