While crime continues throughout the GTA, Toronto police statistics show that 2025 has been encouraging in many ways.
To date this year, Toronto has recorded 42 homicides – the lowest number the city has seen in more than two decades.
Shootings and the discharge of firearms are also down by just over 30 per cent, but charges involving hate crimes are up.
Global News crime specialist Catherine McDonald sat down with Toronto’s chief of police for a closer look at the numbers.
