'Only going to get worse': China’s export orders plunge amid trade war

China's manufacturing sector is showing signs of strain, with factory activity in April falling to its lowest level in over a year as US tariffs begin to bite.
Speaking to Sky News host James Morrow, Government Accountability Institute President and author Peter Schweizer argued that US media have skewed public perception by painting China as dominant, when in fact the numbers tell a different story.
"If you follow that coverage, you would think the United States is in big trouble and China has the upper hand. That is simply not the equation when you look at the numbers," Mr Schweizer told Sky News host James Morrow.
"China's weakness strategically is its dependence on exports to the West. That is the engine that drives their economy and their economy is sputtering.
"I think President Xi is confronted by this reality of that he does not want to lose face to Donald Trump. But on the other hand, his economy is tottering and things are only going to get worse."
