Magnus Carlsen Gets Crushed By Fabiano Caruana

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen played against the American Fabiano Caruana in the third round of the Sinquefield Cup 2014. Carlsen employed the Bishop's opening (1.e4 e5 2.Bc4), but was not able to put Caruana under pressure in the opening. Quite the opposite, after two careless moves, Carlsen found himself forced to complicate matters to not be positionally busted. Caruana, however, was up to the task and emerged with an advantageous position. From there, Caruana kept pressuring Carlsen until the latter made a final mistake and had to admit defeat in only 31 moves. Caruana went on to win the first seven games in the Sinquefield Cup, marking one of the greatest tournament performances in chess history.

Fabiano Caruana is going to challenge Magnus Carlsen in the World Chess Championship 2018, taking place in November in London.

Niclas Huschenbeth (born February 29, 1992 in Hann. Muenden) is a German Chess Grandmaster. Huschenbeth learned how to play chess at the age of five and participated in youth chess tournaments. He was awarded the title of International Master in 2008 and the Grandmaster title in 2012. At age 18, he achieved his most notable success, becoming the youngest German Champion in history. He has played 52 times for the German national team and participated in two chess olympiads. Currently, Huschenbeth studies industrial/organizational psychology at the Free University of Berlin.
