Описание: Blackspace is a digital maker space for Black and Brown youth in the Triangle area of North Carolina. We, at Blackspace, are Afro-futurists. We believe in a self-determined future, where Black and Brown people not only exist but THRIVE. Blackspace offers local youth a breathing space to create, cultivate. and manifest their dreams by any medium necessary. With bases in Durham and Chapel Hill, members of the community volunteer to provide programming designed to instill traits of self-efficacy and self-worth that allow our youth to build the skills they need to succeed. Our ‘wokeshops’ (conscious workshops) include Open Studio, Digital Storytelling, Poetry Writing and Performance, Conscious Coding, and Hip-Hop Production. We also bring events to the greater community on a regular basis such as Movies and Cornbread in Chapel Hill, and Blackspace Poetry Night as part of the BeConnected series, and the DURM Cypher at the CCB Plaza in Durham.
